Wildcats fall to Lumberjacks in straight sets

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Facing their seventh opponent in eight days, the Wildcats couldn't keep with the Big Sky Conference leaders on the road.
Led by two players with 10 kills each, Northern Arizona defeated the Weber State University women's volleyball team 25-11, 25-15, 25-20 on Saturday night at the Rolle Activity Center.
No Weber State player recorded more than five kills, with three players – freshman outside hitter Ciera Borho, sophomore outside hitter Mariah Kahawaii and sophomore middle blocker Audrey Hunter - reaching that total as the Wildcats finished the night with just 30 kills.
Sophomore setter Whitney Hunt had 16 assists and three digs, while junior libero McKay Tarbox had seven digs
Sydney Kemper and Janae Vander Ploeg each had 10 kills for the Lumberjacks (2-0 Big Sky, 8-3 overall).
Weber State fell to 0-2 in Big Sky play, 4-12 overall.
Northern Arizona led the first two sets from wire to wire, but the Wildcats battled in the third set taking an early lead and then tying things up at 12-12, but were unable to sustain it as the Lumberjacks edged away.
Weber State will remain on the road next week, heading to Grand Forks, N.D. on Thursday to face North Dakota, before traveling to Greeley, Colo., to take on Northern Colorado on Saturday.
