OGDEN, Utah - Two nights removed from one of their biggest wins of the season, the Weber State women's volleyball team struggled to find any rhythm and fell in three sets to Portland State, 25-21, 25-22, 25-17.

The loss drops the Wildcats record to 7-22, 3-11 in Big Sky Conference play. It was the eleventh straight match that the Wildcats have dropped to PSU.

“We made 24 attacking errors and the shots that we normally are able to hit with a high percentage were going out of bounds,” WSU head coach Tom Peterson said. “You just can't win making that many errors. I don't know if we just didn't have the energy or what. I thought Portland State played well and were there on the net almost every time we atacked.”

The Wildcats only had the lead once in the match but fought back to tie the match throughout the first two sets. Even after being dominated statistically throughout the match, they had their opportunities to steal a set and the momentum but were unable to.

“The mindset is that you spend a lot of energy mentally to catch up then you find yourself relaxing,” said Peterson. “That is when the other team goes on a run and hurts your momentum.”

Despite teh loss, two Wildcats were able to reach milestones and move their way up in the record books.

During the first set, Audrey Biggs became only the 13th player in Wildcat history to have 1,000 kills in her career. She was the only player in double figures with her match-high 11 kills. Her season total of 449 currently ranks her ninth for most kills in a single-season.

“It is always good to get another goal reached,” Biggs said. “I wish we could have gotten it with a win but it's a nice positive for tonight.“

Biggs wasn't the only one to reach a milestone in the loss as Taylor Christensen had a match-high 30 assists. That brings her total to 1,078 for the season which puts her 10th for most digs in an individual season.

McKay Tarbox had a match-high 11 digs while Thamires Cavalcanti added six and a career-high three service aces. Audrey Hunter had herself a productive evening with seven kills and three blocks.

The Wildcats will travel to take on Montana State next Thursday, November 13. They will then return home for Senior Night when they host Idaho State Saturday, November 15 at 7p.m.
