FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Jeremy Senglin had a career-high and Joel Bolomboy added another double-double as Weber State picked up its first road win of the season with a 74-65 win over Northern Arizona Thursday night at the Walkup Skydome.
The Wildcats ended the first half on a 12-3 run and took a 30-23 lead at halftime. They never trailed in the second half but it was a game of runs as both teams went back-and-forth. WSU took a 12-point lead early in the second half before the Lumberjacks went on an 11-0 run to cut the lead to one. The Wildcats responded with a 20-8 run and led by as many as 13 points with 4:05 to play. NAU posted a 10-2 run and cut the lead to five, but the Wildcats made four free throws in the final minute to hang on for the win.
“This was a really tough physical game and I thought we really held our composure,” said WSU head coach Randy Rahe. “We knew they would make some runs but we were able to withstand those. Our team had a good look in their eyes tonight and really played tough.”
Weber State outrebounded NAU 37-36 and held the Lumberjacks to 33 percent shooting. The Wildcats shot 43 percent from the field and were 22-of-29 from the free throw line. The 'Cats also had just 11 turnovers on the night.
Senglin's 25-point career-high was his third game this season with at least 20 points. He was 5-of-11 from the field and knocked down three 3-pointers. He was also 12-of-15 from the free throw line, dished out five assists and had two steals.
Bolomboy had his sixth double-double of the season, finishing with 16 points and 12 rebounds and was 7-of-14 from the field. Richaud Gittens added 10 points to go along with four assists and three steals. Ryan Richardson added eight points off the bench.
It marked the first road win for Weber State and the Wildcats won their seventh straight game in Flagstaff.
Weber State improves to 8-8 on the season and 3-2 in Big Sky Conference play. The Wildcats continue their road trip Saturday night taking on Southern Utah in Cedar City.
