Wildcats end season with 35-14 win over ISU

OGDEN -- The Weber State football ended the season with a winning record for the first time in five years as the Wildcats beat Idaho State 35-14 Saturday afternoon at Stewart Stadium in the final game of the year. The win moved Weber State to 6-5 on the season and 5-3 in Big Sky play, their first winning season since 2010.

Clark found Helam Heimuli for a four-yard touchdown that put WSU up 14-0 at halftime.
The Wildcats extended their lead to 21-0 after a 32-yard touchdown run by Eric Wilkes midway through the third quarter. Idaho State got on the board with a touchdown to make it 21-7 but the 'Cats marched right back down the field and Clark found Heimuli again for a 20-yard touchdown to make it 28-7 after three quarters.
Wilkes had a two-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter to make it 35-7 before a late Idaho State touchdown.
The Wildcats totaled 454 yards of total offense and held Idaho State to 310 yards. Weber State rushed for 306 yards. The 'Cats had 23 first downs but finished 5-of-14 on third down conversions and had three turnovers.
Individually, Emmanuel Pooler led the running attack with 14 carries for 130 yards. Wilkes finished with 19 carries for 112 yards and two touchdowns.
Junior quarterback Jadrian Clark finished the day 12-of-23 passing for 138 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions. TyJuan Prince had two catches for 31 yards and Heimuli finished with two catches for 24 yards and two touchdowns. Prior to today, Heimuli had not had a reception and the two touchdowns were the first of his career.
Defensively, Alema Key led the way with nine tackles, while Taron Johnson, Tre'von Johnson and Mitch Tulane all had seven. Vince Coleman and Jonathan Carlson each recorded a sack and Carlson forced a fumble.
Saturday marked the final game for 11 Weber State seniors.
Weber State defeated Idaho State for the 15th straight time at Stewart Stadium.
“Our number one goal to start the season was to have a winning season and we did that,” said Weber State head coach Jay Hill, who finished his second season with the Wildcats. “It's something I'm not content with but it is something to build on. We have a lot to continue to improve on but as we do we can build on this season. “
