Jamie Stokes named Big Sky Athlete of the Week

OGDEN, Utah – Weber State's Jamie Stokes was selected as the Big Sky women's track athlete of the Week the conference announced Tuesday.

Stokes, a junior from Ogden, Utah, set a new school-record in the mile run this past Saturday at the Washington Invitational. Her time of 4:43.86 was a 7-second personal best and moved her past the mark of 4:44.09 set by Amber Henry last year. She was also the fastest collegiate runner in her event.

Stokes is a six-time Big Sky All-Conference performer in both track and cross country. Last spring, she was named  to the Capital One Academic All-District VIII women's cross country/track and field First Team. 

The other winners were Idaho State's, Portland State's Sydney Johnson and Montana State's Cristian Soratos.
