Wildcat track and field adds 27 for 2016 class

OGDEN - The Weber State men's and women's track and field and cross country teams have added a large class of new student-athletes to join the Wildcats. WSU has signed a total of 27 student-athletes with 17 on the women's side and 10 on the men's side.
“We are really excited about this year's signing class,” said Dan Walker, WSU Director of Track and Field. “This is one of the most talented and deepest classes we have signed at Weber State. We needed to add more depth to get back to where we want to be and we feel we've done that with this class. This class is a combination of some terrific athletes from Utah and the surrounding area, as well as a great group of international student-athletes.”
A total of 16 athletes come from the state of Utah with four others from Idaho and one each from Arizona and Illinois. In addition, the Wildcats have five athletes from Europe, including Austria, Luxembourg, Spain and the United Kingdom.
Weber State men's track and field signings
Christian Allen – West Jordan, UT – Copper Hills High School
Christian Allen will be coming to the Wildcat cross country squad after serving an LDS Church mission. He recorded a personal best of 4:18.01 in the 1600 meter run. He placed third at the Utah 5A State Cross Country Championships in 2014.
Connor Arnell – Saratoga Springs, UT – Lehi High School
Connor will join the Wildcats after serving an LDS Church mission. He recorded personal bests of 4:16.03 in the 1600 meter run, and 9:07.58 in the 3200. He was a finalist in the 2015 Foot Locker Cross Country National Championships and placed third in the Utah 5A State Cross Country Championship.
Kody Codner – Orem, UT – Orem High School
Kody Codner comes to Weber State out of Orem High School. He recorded personal bests of 14.66 in the 100 meter hurdles, 37.65 in the 300 hurdles and ran a 21.90 in the 200 meter dash. Codner was the Utah 5A State champion in the 110 and 300 hurdles in 2016. He placed third in the Utah 5A 200 meter in 2016 and was named the Utah High School Male track and Field Athlete of the Year 2016.
Adam Jensen – Highland, UT – Lone Peak High School
Adam Jensen will be joining the Wildcat cross country team from Lone Peak High School. He recorded personal bests of 4:19.10 in the 1600 meters and 9:21.95 in the 3200 meters. He placed 95th in the Nike Cross Country Nationals in 2015.
Dallin Leatham – Centerville, UT – Viewmont High School
Dallin Leatham comes to WSU from Viewmont High School. He has recorded a personal best time of 1:55.30 time in the 800 meter run as well as a 4:09.42 in the 1600 meter run and a 9:16.16 in the 3200. He placed seventh at the Nike Cross Country Southwest Meet in 2015 with a time of 14:59 in the 5,000 meters.
Luca Sinn - Vienna, Austria
Luca comes to Weber State from Vienna, Austria. He finished second in the Austrian National Cross Country Championships in 2016. He has personal best times of 8:53 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase and 14:36 in the 5,000 meters.
Austin Stewart – Shelley, ID – Shelley High School
Austin Stewart will be a freshman out of Shelley, Idaho. He has recorded a personal best time of 4:26.69 time in the 1600 meter run and a 9:20.14 time in the 3200. He won nine Idaho State Championships in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs and cross country.
Isaac Tillet – Kamas, UT – South Summit High School
Isaac Tillet will join the Weber State track and field team out of Kamas, Utah. He has recorded a personal best of 10.78 in the 100 meter dash, 21.74 in the 200 and 48.60 in the 400. Tillet won five Utah state championship titles in the 100m, 200m, and the 400m.
Tracen Warnick – Riverton, UT – Riverton High School
Tracen Warnick comes to Weber State out of Riverton, Utah. He recorded personal bests of 1:54.70 in the 800 meter run, 4:10.46 in the 1600, and 9:15.58 in the 3200. He placed fourth in the 800 and sixth in both the 1600 and 3200 in the Utah 5A State championships.
Jamison Wilkes – Cedar Hills, UT – Lone Peak High School
Jamison Wilkes will be a freshman from Cedar Hills, Utah. He has recorded a personal best time of 4:14.73 time in the 1600 and a 9:12.68 in the 3200. He placed 74th at the Nike Cross Country Southwest Meet in 2015 and placed fifth in the Utah 5A State Championships in the 3200 meters in 2016.
Weber State women's track and field signings
Sophia Adams – Boise, ID – Bishop Kelly High School
Sophia Adams will join the Wildcat track and field as a thrower from Boise, Idaho. She recorded a personal best of 138-9 in the discus and 39-5 in shot put. She earned two state championship titles in the discus and placed in the top three in the state championships in the shot put for back-to-back years.
Klarissa Andersen – Shelley, ID – Shelley High School
Klarissa Andersen will be joining the Wildcat track and field and cross country squads this fall out of Shelley, Idaho. She recorded personal bests of 2:16.50 in the 800 meters and 5:13.96 in the 1600 meters. She was the Idaho State champion in the 800 meters and in cross country. She also placed in the top three in the state on seven different occasions in the 800, 1600, 3200, and cross country.
Fiona Aschenbrenner – Vienna, Austria
Fiona Aschenbrenner will be joining the Weber State track and field and cross country team from Vienna, Austria. She recorded a personal best of 10:08.05 in the 3000 meters.
Andrea Brown – South Jordan, UT – Bingham High School
Andrea Brown will be joining the Wildcat track and field team. She recorded personal bests of 44.58 in the 300 meter hurdles and 15.40 in the 100 meter hurdles. She placed second in the Utah 5A State Championship meet in the 300 meter hurdles and fifth in the 100 meter hurdles in 2016.
Madison Brown – Grangeville, ID – Grangeville High School
Madison Brown will be joining the Wildcat track and field team as a jumper from Grangeville, Idaho. She recorded personal a best of 35-2 in the triple jump. She claimed the Idaho State Champion title in the triple jump.
Lara Beukens – Garnick, Luxembourg
Lara Beukens will be joining the Wildcat track and field team as a pole vaulter from Garnick, Luxembourg. She recorded a personal best of 12-3 in the pole vault. She also earned Luxembourg National Pole Vault Championship title in 2015.
Katie Cornell – American Fork, UT – American Fork High School
Katie Cornell placed 13th overall in the Utah 5A State Cross Country Championships. She also has recorded a 5:05.96 in the 1600 meters and 11:12.22 in the 3200 meters. Cornell has been a member of two different teams that have qualified for the Nike Cross Country High School National Championships and individually placed 140th overall in 2015.
Cidnee Davies – Syracuse, UT – Syracuse High School
Cidnee Davies will be joining the Weber State track and field team from Syracuse, Utah. She recorded personal bests of 19-3 in the long jump and 14.64 in the 100 meter hurdles. She won the Utah 5A state title in 2016 in both the long jump and the hurdles.
Brenna Jeffs – Orem, UT – Orem High School
Brenna Jeffs will be joining the Weber State track and field team as a hurdler from Orem, Utah. She recorded personal bests of 44.27 in the 300 meter hurdles and 15.44 in the 100 meter hurdles. She also placed 26th overall at the Utah 4A State Cross Country Championships in 2014.
Camille Jolley – South Jordan, UT – Bingham High School
Camille Jolley will be joining the Weber State track and field sprint team from Bingham High School. She recorded personal bests of 56.82 in the 400 meter dash and 25.26 in the 200 meter dash. She also placed fifth in the 400 at the Utah 5A championships in 2016.
Makalita Lapuaho – West Valley, UT – Hunter High School
Makalita Lapuaho will be joining the Weber State track and field throwing team from West Valley, Utah. She recorded personal bests of 125-9 in the javelin, 122-4 in the discus and 37-8 in the shot put. She took second in the javelin at the Utah 5A championships and finished fifth in the discus in 2016.
Garazi Larrakoetxea – Aracaldo, Spain
Garazi Larrakoetxea comes to Weber State from Aracaldo, Spain. She recorded personal bests of 5-8.5 in the high jump and 37-0 in the triple jump.
Talia Reza – Ogden, UT – Bonneville High School
Talia Reza will be joining the Weber State from Bonneville High School. She recorded personal bests of 18-8.5 in the long jump and posted impressive hurdle times of 15.30 in the 100 meter hurdles and 45.76 in the 300 meter hurdles. She also won the Utah 4A long jump championship title.
Madison Romig – Round Lake Beach, IL – Grant Community High School
Madison Romig will be joining the Weber State track and field and cross country teams out of Round Beach Lake, Ill. She recorded personal a best of 5:00.06 in the 1600 meters and placed fifth in the Illinois State championship in the 1600 in 2016 and was 14th overall in the Illinois State cross country championships in 2015.
Brittney Rounkles – Kaysville, UT – Davis High School
Brittney Rounkles will be joining the Weber State track and field team as a sprinter out of Davis High School. She recorded personal bests of 57.29 in the 400 meter dash and 25.99 in the 200 meter dash.
Amy Teal – Romsey, United Kingdom – Peter Symonds College
Amy Teal will be joining the Weber State track and field sprint team from Romsey in the United Kingdom. She recorded personal bests of 12.10 in the 100 meter dash and 25.80 in the 200 meter dash. She placed sixth overall in the English Schools Finals in the 100 in 2015.
Alyisa Waite – Gilbert, AZ – Gilbert High School
Alyisa Waite is a sprinter out of Gilbert, Ariz. She recorded personal bests of 14.16 in the 100 meter hurdles and 12.04 in the 100 meter dash. She posted a mark of 18-4.75 in the long jump and went 37-6.5 in the triple jump. She placed second in the Arizona State Championships in the 100 meter hurdles in 2016 and claimed the long jump championship title in 2016.
