Weber State senior linebacker Tre'von Johnson had a strong performance in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl Saturday in Los Angeles.

Johnson tied for a game-high six tackles, including a tackle for loss, and had a pass breakup and a quarterback hurry, in helping lead Team American to a 27-7 victory over Team National.

"Tre'von Johnson is widely considered one of the best defenders in the Big Sky, and he shows you why right there," analyst Joel Klatt said during the Fox Sports 1 telecast.

He was also recognized as one of the top performers and a name to remember by the Pro Players Insider.

Johnson was one of four players from a school in the Big Sky and one of nine players from a school from Utah to compete in the game. Founded in 2012, the annual NFLPA Collegiate Bowl gives prospective players the best opportunity to showcase their talents to potential employers and fans. Nearly 200 scouts, player personnel staff, general managers and head coaches from all 32 NFL teams were in attendance to watch live practices, conduct player interviews and review tape.

Johnson started all 12 games at linebacker for the Wildcats during the 2016 season, helping Weber State to a third-place finish in the Big Sky and WSU's first trip to the FCS Playoffs in seven years. Johnson earned first team All-Big Sky Conference honors after anchoring the Wildcat defense. He served as a team captain on defense and helped the Wildcats lead the conference in passing defense. He was second on the team in tackles at 7.8 per game and led the team and was sixth in the Big Sky in tackles for loss with 12.5. He also had 4.5 sacks on the season, most on the Wildcat squad.

The Salt Lake City native, played in 46 games in his four-year career at Weber State and had 258 career tackles with 27 tackles for loss and nine sacks.
