Wildcats drop overtime game at Idaho

Weber State made a furious rally to force overtime but it wasn't enough as Idaho handed the Wildcats their third-straight loss with an 83-78 victory Saturday afternoon in Moscow.
WSU trailed by eight points with 35 seconds left in overtime when they closed regulation on a 10-2 run to force overtime. Weber State was down three with 1.5 seconds left when Idaho fouled Jeremy Senglin. Senglin made the first and intentionally missed the second free throw, but Kyndahl Hill was fouled on the rebound. Hill made two free throws to push the game to the extra period. The Wildcats were 18-of-19 from the free throw line in the second half with the only miss Senglin's intentional miss.
Neither team made a field goal in overtime as both teams were 0-for-4. Idaho was 9-of-10 from the free throw line to seal the overtime win.
"We fought like crazy to get back into it and gave ourselves an opportunity, we were probably one shot away from winning the game," said WSU head coach Randy Rahe. "We didn't play great but they played so hard and tough and I'm proud of their effort."
Weber State shot 42 percent for the game with the Vandals shooting 38 percent. The Wildcats were 23-of-25 from the free throw line but just 7-of-24 from 3-point range. Idaho outrebounded WSU 43-32.
Senglin led the Wildcats with 31 points with five 3-pointers and added seven assists in 43 minutes of action. He became the eighth player in Big Sky Conference history to reach 1,900 career points, now with 1,914 for his career. He also broke his own school single-season record, now with 109 3-pointers this season.
Three other Wildcats, Zach Braxton, Kyndahl Hill and Cody John, each added 12 points. Braxton led the Wildcats with nine rebounds.
The loss drops Weber State to 16-11 overall and 11-5 in Big Sky play. The 'Cats are currently third in the Big Sky standings with two games remaining.
WSU will close out the regular season hosting Montana Thursday and Montana State Saturday. Both games will start at 7 p.m. at the Dee Events Center.
The 11-team Big Sky Tournament will be held March 7-11 in Reno, Nevada.
