2017 was an historic, record-setting season for Weber State football. Now the Wildcats are setting their sights on the 2018 season.

The Wildcats will kickoff the season on Thursday, Aug. 30, when they take on the University of Utah Utes at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City. It will be the first game against the Utes since 2013 and will also be the fourth time in the last five years the Wildcats have played a Pac-12 team.

WSU will then head to California to take on Cal Poly on Sept. 8. The game with the Mustangs will be a non-conference game and will not count in the Big Sky standings.

The 2018 home opener will be Saturday, Sept. 15, when Weber State hosts the University of South Dakota at Stewart Stadium. The Coyotes were nationally-ranked in 2017 and advanced to the second round of the FCS Playoffs.

Weber State will begin defense of its Big Sky title on Sept. 22 when the 'Cats open Big Sky play hosting Northern Colorado.

After a bye week, the Wildcats will play at Northern Arizona on Oct. 6, before returning home for back-to-back home games. WSU will host Eastern Washington on Oct. 13, in what will also be the annual Homecoming game at Weber State. The Wildcats will then host Montana State on Oct. 20, before returning to the road at North Dakota on Oct. 27.

The final home game of the season will be Nov. 3, when Weber State hosts Sacramento State. WSU will close out the regular season with two rivalry road games playing at Southern Utah on Nov. 10, and at Idaho State on Nov. 17.

The Big Sky Conference will have a new look in 2018 as the University of Idaho returns to the league in football. Idaho was a charter member of the conference before leaving in 1996. North Dakota will also leave the conference and play as an FCS Independent. Weber State will not play Idaho, Montana, Northern Colorado and Portland State in 2018.

The Wildcats are coming off a record-setting season last year where they won a school-record 11 games, won the Big Sky Conference title, won two games in the FCS Playoffs and finished the season ranked fifth in the country, the highest ranking in school history. Head coach Jay Hill returns for his fifth season as coach of the Wildcats.

2018 season tickets for Wildcat football will go on sale on Wednesday, Feb. 7, which will also be the annual Signing Day at Weber State. WSU will host a Signing Day party for fans at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 7 at Stewart Stadium, featuring coach Hill and other Wildcat coaches introducing the 2018 signings.
