Weber State women's tennis picked up a nice 7-0 win over Northern Colorado Saturday afternoon.
"Today was an outstanding performance from everyone," said head coach Mark Roberts. "Right from the first point in doubles the girls were ready to play and all of them started with good energy. After winning the doubles point we kept the momentum going into singles and played solid tennis the entire match. It was excellent.
"In my almost three years at Weber State this was the best team atmosphere I have ever witnessed from the girls," Roberts continued. "Everyone was fired up,positive, and yelling in support of their teammates. It was incredible and an absolute pleasure to watch the team connect and care for each other as well as their own court as they did today. I can't wait to watch them compete again tomorrow against Colorado State."
In doubles action WSU started things off with a win in the No. 1 spot. Caitlin Herb and Pei_Hsuan Kuo defeated Raffa Mora and Tristen Bryant-Otake with a 6-1 score. In the No. 3 spot Dominique Beauvais and Morgan Dickason defeated Carrigan Blanchard and Anna Battersby.
The two victories gave WSU the doubles point advantage going into singles play.
In singles action Herb started off by defeating Bryant-Otake 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 2 spot. Tereza Pilzova defeated Madeline Doherty 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 3 spot.
To keep things hot for Weber State Beauvais defeated Saring Chhabra 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 4 spot.
Those three victories claimed the match for WSU but things finished out as Morgan Dickason took down Blanchard 6-1, 7-5 in the No. 5 spot. Picking up back-to-back wins, McKenna Lloyd defeated Mana Koitabashi 6-3, 6-2.
To finish everything off and to give Weber State a clean sweep in singles play, Kuo came out victorious over Mora with scores of 3-6, 6-2, 10-6.
