Wildcats fall 80-55 in Big Sky quarterfinals

RENO, Nev. - Northern Colorado knocked Weber State out of the Big Sky Tournament as the Bears beat the Wildcats 80-55 Thursday afternoon in the quarterfinals.Â
Northern Colorado went on an early 12-0 run and led by 14 points midway through the first half. The Bears led by as many as 18 points in the first half.Â
UNC started the second half on a 16-4 run and never looked back. The Bears led by as many as 29 points in the second half.Â
Northern Colorado shot 51 percent from the field and held the Wildcats to 34 percent shooting. Weber State was 18 of 52 from the field and shot 9 of 26 in each half. The Wildcats were also 4 of 14 from 3-point range.Â
The Bears also outreounded the Wildcats 42-29 and knocked down 10 3-pointers.Â
The Wildcats were led by Brekkott Chapman who finished with a double-double as he had 18 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds, to go along with five blocked shots.Â
Jerrick Harding also had 18 points and Zach Braxton had 10 points and eight rebounds.Â
Weber State now sits at 20-11 overall. The Wildcats will wait to see if they are invited to a national postseason tournament on Sunday.Â
