Wildcats season comes to an end with 7-5 loss to Nevada

LAS VEGAS – Weber State softball season comes to an end as they fell 7-5 to Nevada Thursday afternoon in the National Invitational Softball Championships.
The first two innings went scoreless between Nevada and Weber State. Kirtlyn Bohling had three strikeouts in the first two innings.
In the top of the third inning, Nevada put up four runs with the help of a three run homer over the center field fence.
Takesha Saltern started the bottom of three off with a single to center field. Landi Hawker followed that up with a single to third base. Ashlyn Visser reached on a fielder's choice to load up the bases
Molly Horne singled for an RBI to get WSU on the board. Rae Gall followed that up with a double that allowed two runs to score. Courtney Pestka then popped up to center field but one run scored tying the game up at 4-4 going into the top of the fourth.
The top of the fourth, the Wolf Pack put up another run taking a 5-4 lead over WSU. It wasn't until the seventh inning until either team found a groove again.
In the top of the seventh, the Wolf Pack hit another home run that gave them a 7-4 lead. In the bottom of the seventh, Saltern smacked a double to the left field fence. Hawker laid down a bunt to advance her and Visser hit a single to right field scoring Saltern. WSU couldn't quite make the full comeback and fell 7-5.
Weber State's season concludes with a 28-26 record.
