Weber State drops two at Idaho State in conference opener

3/28/2026 6:01:00 PM | Softball

POCATELLO, Idaho - Weber State softball opened Big Sky play on the road, dropping a pair of games to the Idaho State Bengals at Miller Ranch Stadium.

Game One: Idaho State 7, Weber State 3

Weber State came out competitive in the early innings, creating traffic on the bases and applying pressure offensively. The Wildcats threatened multiple times but were unable to deliver, leaving runners on and keeping the game within reach through the opening frames.

Idaho State broke through in the third and sixth innings, capitalizing on key opportunities to take control. The Bengals strung together timely hits and used extra-base power to build a lead, highlighted by a home run from Moore that helped create separation.

The Wildcats showed out defensively, including a double play turned by Apollonia Maldonado and Abby Grundy to slow Idaho State's momentum. However, the Bengals continued to add on late, extending their advantage and limiting Weber State's chances for a comeback.

Cali McCraw got the start in the circle for Weber State and was charged with the loss.

Game Two: Idaho State 12, Weber State 4 (5)

Weber State battled early but was unable to break through offensively against Idaho State. The Wildcats generated limited opportunities and struggled to string together hits, finishing with five to the Bengals' 14.

Idaho State took control to begin the game, totaling eight runs in the first three innings. Weber State found the board in the fourth inning with a bases-loaded walk from Maldonado. Sienna Solis followed with an RBI single, and Tori Rey reached on a fielder's choice that brought in two more runs to cut into the deficit. Despite the Wildcats' efforts, the Bengals recorded four more runs to close out the game 12-4 in five innings.

Raina Navarro got the start in the circle for Weber State and was charged with the loss.
