Iosua Opeta selected for NFLPA Collegiate Bowl

Weber State football All-American Iosua Opeta has been selected to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.Â
The NFLPA Collegiate Bowl is in its eighth year and features a collection of the best seniors in college football. The game will be played Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. Kickoff is at 3 p.m. Mountain time and will be televised on FS1.Â
The game includes 112 players from across the nation. Opeta will compete for the National Team, coached by Mike Tice. He is one of five players from the Big Sky Conference competing in the game.Â
Nearly 200 scouts, player personnel staff, general managers and head coaches from all 32 NFL teams will be in attendance as part of the bowl.Â
Opeta recently finished his four-year career at Weber State he was a consensus All-American for the Wildcats in 2018, earning All-America honors for the second-straight season.Â
As a senior, the Stansbury Park, Utah native started all 13 games for the Wildcats on the offensive line and served as a team captain. He also started every game of his final three seasons and finished his career playing in 50 career games in four seasons at Weber State. Â
He was part of the winningest senior class in Weber State history. The Wildcats won back-to-back Big Sky titles and advanced and won 10 or more games in back-to-back seasons, both school records. Weber State has also competed in the FCS Playoffs in each of the last three seasons and advanced to the quarterfinals the last two years.Â
Opeta also graduated from Weber State University in December with a degree in Human Performance Management.Â
