OGDEN - Weber State senior guard Jerrick Harding has been named the Big Sky Conference Men's Basketball Preseason MVP. The team is selected by a vote of the head coaches, athletic communications directors and media members from around the conference.
Harding is the first Wildcat to be named preseason Big Sky MVP since the league began a preseason all-conference team in 2015.
The Wichita, Kansas native, has been one of the top players in Weber State history in his first three seasons with the Wildcats. He is a two-time All-Big Sky first-team selection and a two-time first-team All-District selection.
As a junior in 2018-19, Harding finished second in the Big Sky and 26th in the nation in scoring at 21.4 points per game and scored in double figures in 27 of his 30 games played, scoring 642 points, the eighth-most in WSU single-season history.
After 97 career games at Weber State, Harding enters his senior season ranked fifth in WSU history in career scoring with 1,621 points. He is also Weber State's current career leader in free throw percentage at 87.2 percent and ranks ninth in career 3-pointers and 10th in career steals.
Joining Harding on the preseason All-Big Sky team are Montana guard Sayeed Pridgett, Montana State guard Harald Frey, Portland State junior guard Holland Woods, Eastern Washington forward Mason Peatling and EWU forward Jacob Davison.
After an exhibition game on Nov. 2, Weber State begins the 2019-20 season at Utah State on Nov. 8. The home opener is Nov. 14 against San Diego.
