Bobby Jones named men's basketball assistant coach

Weber State men's basketball head coach Kaleb Canales has announced the promotion of Bobby Jones to assistant coach for the Wildcats.
Jones was Weber State's video coordinator for the 2025-26 season and now moves into an assistant coaching role.
A native of Oroville, California, Jones brings a diverse coaching background and experience in player development, scouting, and basketball operations.
Before arriving at Weber State, he spent the 2024-25 season as an assistant coach at Dallas College North Lake, where he assisted with player development, scouting, recruiting, and program operations.
Jones also served as an assistant coach at Las Plumas High School in Oroville during the 2021-22 season, helping guide the program to a league championship.
His basketball career also includes four seasons as a student manager at Grand Canyon University, where he worked under head coach Dan Majerle. Jones earned his bachelor's degree in Sports Management from Grand Canyon in 2020.
In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Jones has spent several years in the NBA 2K League. He served as head coach of Mavs Gaming, the NBA 2K League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks, from 2023-24 after serving as an assistant coach during the 2022-23 season.
Jones also worked as team operations coordinator for Pacers Gaming, the NBA 2K League affiliate of the Indiana Pacers, in 2022.
Prior to his coaching career, Jones competed professionally in the NBA 2K League, playing for Lakers Gaming in 2021 and Pacers Gaming in 2020.
