MISSOULA, Mont. - Fourth-ranked Montana handed Weber State it's first Big Sky loss and defeated the Wildcats 35-16 Saturday afternoon at Washington-Grizzly Stadium.

The loss snaps Weber State's seven-game winning streak and drops the Wildcats to 8-3 overall and 6-1 in conference play with one game remaining.

Montana racked up 394 yards of total offense, compared to 363 for Weber State.. The Wildcats had four turnovers on the day and were sacked three times.

Montana scored first on a 10-yard touchdown less than four minutes into the game. After a 32-yard field goal by Trey Tuttle late in the quarter, the Grizzlies scored on a 79-yard touchdown and led 14-3 after the first quarter.

Following a Wildcat turnover deep in their own territory, Montana added a 15-yard touchdown run to take a 21-3 lead early in the second quarter.

The Griz continued in the second half and scored on a 59-yard touchdown pass less than a minute into the half to take a 28-3 lead. UM scored again a few minutes later to take a 35-3 lead.

WSU scored on two late game touchdowns. Kaden Jenks connected with Jon Christensen for a 21-yard touchdown with 8:15 to play. Then Jenks found Ty MacPherson for an 11-yard score in the final minute of play.
Individually, MacPherson had a career day as he finished with 11 catches for a career-high 162 yards and one touchdown. The 11 receptions is the most in a game by a Wildcat since 2014.

Jake Constantine was 18 for 34 passing for 170 yards. On the ground, Kevin Smith had 19 carries for 74 yards and Josh Davis had nine rushes for 26 yards.

Defensively, Noah Vaea led the way with nine tackles and Jared Schiess and George Tarlas each had a sack.

Several Wildcat players left the game due to injuries, including Constantine, Rashid Shaheed, Devon Cooley and Justin Malone.

Weber State returns home for the final regular season game to host Idaho State at 2 p.m. next Saturday at Stewart Stadium. With a win against the Bengals, WSU will clinch at least a share of the Big Sky title for the third-straight season.
