Harding leads Wildcats to 72-67 win at UVU

OREM, Utah - Jerrick Harding scored a season-high 36 points, with 27 points in the second half, and knocked down four 3-pointers to lead Weber State to a 72-67 win at Utah Valley Wednesday night at the UCCU Center.
Harding was 12 of 19 from the field and 4 of 8 from 3-point range. He also was 8 of 10 from the free throw line and had four rebounds, three assists and two blocks. The 36 points is tied for the second-most in a game in Harding's career and was his ninth career game scoring 30 or more points in a game.
Utah Valley jumped out to a 23-15 lead with 4:55 to play, when the Wildcats went on a 9-0 run to take a 24-23 lead with 2:44 to play in the half. The Wolverines closed the half on a 5-0 run and led 28-24 at halftime.
UVU led 38-31 early the second half with the Wildcats went on a 17-2 run over the next 4:35 to take a 48-40 lead with 9:00 to play and never looked back.
The Wolverines cut the lead to two points at 57-55 with 4:13 remaining but the Wildcats went on a 10-3 run and led by nine points with less than a minute to play and held on for the win.
The Wildcats shot 46 percent from the field, including 57 percent shooting in the second half. Weber State outrebounded the Wolverines 38-34 and had eight blocked shots.
"I'm so proud of our guys and they earned the win tonight," said WSU head coach Randy Rahe. "This is a hard place to play but it was a great team win with lots of players contributing. We made some big stops defensively and got going offensively and Jerrick was fantastic with big play after big play."
Tim Fuller added 10 points, a career-high seven rebounds and three blocked shots off the bench and was 5 of 7 from the field. KJ Cunningham added nine points with four assists and Kham Davis had five points and six rebounds.
The win is Weber State's first ever win at Utah Valley.
The Wildcats return home to host Westcliff University Saturday at the Dee Events Center. Saturday's game has been moved and will now begin at 7 p.m., following WSU football's playoff game against Kennesaw State at 1 p.m.
