Wildcats fall to Eagles; earn No. 4 seed in BSC Tournament

OGDEN - Weber State dropped its final home game as the Wildcats fell 80-77 to Eastern Washington Saturday night at the Dee Events Center in the regular season finale.
The Wildcats end the regular season at 17-14 overall and 11-9 in Big Sky play. Weber State finishes in a tie for fourth in the league standings and earns the No. 4 seed.
The Wildcats will take on No. 5 seed Portland State on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in quarterfinals of the Big Sky Tournament in Boise, Idaho.
Weber State jumped out to a 12-0 lead but the Eagles fought back and took a first half lead before Jerrick Harding's 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer gave the Wildcats a two-point lead.
EWU led by as many as nine points in the second half and led seven with 6:05 to play when the Wildcats went on a 6-0 run to cut the lead to one with 3:57 to play. The Eagles led by four with 1:42 to play when Harding made a 3-pointer and was fouled. He made the foul shot for a four-point play to tie the game at 75-75. The Eagles went up one with 20 seconds to play and a Weber State shot missed. EWU made two free throws to seal the win.
The Eagles shot 46 percent from the field, compared to 43 percent for Weber State and EWU outrebounded the Wildcats 39-33.
Harding and Cody John led the Wildcats with 24 points each. Harding made five 3-pointers and John grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
Montana earned the No. 1 seed with Northern Colorado second and Eastern Washington third. The top five teams receive a bye into the quarterfinals.
