Wildcats beat Westminster 3-0 in exhibition match

OGDEN - The Weber State volleyball team started off the 2019 season with a 3-0 victory over Westminster in an exhibition match Saturday afternoon at the Swenson Gym. 
 
WSU dominated the first set, winning 25-11, after hitting .355 in the set with just two errors. Weber State never trailed in the second set, winning 25-13. 
 
The third set was closer and was tied three times before the Wildcats pulled away with a 25-22 win. 
 
The Wildcats hit .246 for the match and had 41 kills with 71 digs and eight team blocks. 
 
Junior Kennedy Williams lead the way for Weber State, finishing with 12 kills and 11 digs. Megan Gnieting had six kills in just one set of action. Rylin Roberts added four kills and 10 digs. 
 
After a Purple and White scrimmage on Wednesday, Weber State begins the 2019 season next weekend, hosting the Wildcat Invitational with four matches Friday and two on Saturday. Weber State will be joined by UNLV, Portland and CSUN at the tournament. 
 
Head coach Jeremiah Larsen and the Wildcats were picked to finish second in the Big Sky preseason polls.
