WSU soccer drops 6-0 to Arizona in battle of Wildcats

The Weber State women's soccer team fell to the University of Arizona 6-0 this evening in a battle of two Wildcats. "It was a tough game against a good opponent.," said Interim head coach, Meagan Thunell. "It's easy to blame the heat, or any other number of factors, but the truth is, we didn't execute during the first half and Arizona did."

Arizona put a point on the scoreboard early in the first half when Madison Goerlinger scored in the second minute of play. In the 15^thminute, Jada Talley was able to put another goal in the back of the net for the Arizona Wildcats. Four more Arizona players scored in the first half, ending the period 6-0.

Though the WSU Wildcats weren't able to put one on the board, Thunell believes the team will continue to move onward and upward. "I am proud of our girls for stepping it up and shutting out the second half. We could have folded and come out after the break with our heads down, but we didn't. We played a much more respectable second half, and that's what we'll build on. We will push forward without letting the result of tonight's game dictate our identity."
