FARMINGTON, Utah -- The Big Sky Conference has announced the men's and women's basketball schedules for the 2020-21 season.Â
The conference approved a 20-game conference season for its 11 member institutions with two contests against every other school, including home-and-home series with two opponents, while reducing travel and expenses. All games are scheduled for Thursday's and Saturday's.Â
The Weber State women's team will open the conference season with back-to-back home games against Portland State on Dec. 3 and Dec. 5 at the Dee Events Center.Â
The Wildcats will close out 2020 with a home game against Idaho State on Dec. 31, then play the Bengals in Pocatello on Jan. 2.Â
WSU hits the road at Eastern Washington on Jan. 7 and 9 before an open weekend. They resume play at Southern Utah on Jan. 21, before hosting the Thunderbirds on Jan. 23.Â
The Wildcats will have other home games against Idaho (Jan. 28 and 30), Montana (Feb. 11 and 13) and Sacramento State on Feb. 25 and 27. WSU has road games at Montana State (Feb. 4 and 6), Northern Arizona (Feb. 18 and 20) and Northern Colorado (March 3 and 5).Â
Head coach Velaida Harris is back for her third season as coach and the Wildcats have seven letter winners returning.Â
Both the men's and women's teams will compete at the 2021 Big Sky Basketball Championships in Boise, held at the newly renamed Idaho Central Arena. The tournament will be held from March 8-13 with all 22 men's and women's teams competing.Â
The non-conference schedule will be announced soon.Â
