Weber State struggles in 91-57 loss to Idaho

OGDEN – Weber State women's basketball struggled Wednesday night as the Wildcats fell to the Idaho Vandals with a final score of 91-57. .
How it happened: Weber State started the game trailing 15-2 and went 5:24 without a field goal. Weber State managed to cut the deficit and trailed 24-11 at the end of the first quarter.Â
Idaho pushed their lead to 20 points halfway through the second quarter. As the quarter unwound, WSU trailed 46-30 at the half.Â
Idaho went on a 10-0 run early in the third quarter. A made jumper by Ula Chamberlin broke the drought for WSU, but the Vandals had pushed on for a 68-34 lead going into the final quarter of play.Â
In the fourth quarter, Weber State matched Idaho point for point, with both teams dropping 23. The 23 points in the fourth quarter was WSU's highest scoring quarter of the game.Â
With the damage done early, Idaho ran away with a 91-57 victory over Weber State.Â

 Leaders: Weber State was led by Daryn Hickok who had 11 points. Shyanne Loiland was next with nine, including two made from beyond the arc. Jadyn Matthews, Liz Graves and Ula Chamberlin each added eight points to the total score.Â
Three Wildcats had five rebounds a piece in Ciara James, Matthews and Kayla Watkins.Â
Comparison: Weber State shot 33 percent from the field, 27 percent from the three and 94.7 percent from the free throw line. WSU was 18-19 from the line.Â
WSU ended the game with 27 total rebounds, nine assists and just 14 turnovers.Â
Idaho shot 54 percent from the field, 46 percent from the three and 73 percent from the free throw line. The Vandals pulled down 37 total boards, had eight turnovers and 17 assists.Â
Notes to know: Weber State is now 3-25 overall on the season and 1-18 in Big Sky Conference play.Â
Up Next: Weber State will honor lone senior Gina O'Brien on Friday, March 6 in the last game at the Dee Events Center for the year. WSU will take on Eastern Washington.Â
