Las Vegas, NV - Weber State women's tennis attended the ITA Mountain Regional, October 12-17, at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The ITA Regional Championships was a successful event for many of the Weber State Wildcat women's tennis players. The region consists of 21 teams across seven states. Ana Morett Defeated Maddie Lamoreaux (UU) 6-4, 5-7, (10-2). Patty Kuo beat UNLV player Shir Azran 7-5, 4-6, 7-5. Sicely Ferreira made it to the round of 16 in Flight two ousting Ida Krause (WYO) 6-7, 6-1, 6-3 and Ellie Puzak (CU) 6-2, 7-6.
Patty Kuo and Ana Morett beat four teams en route to the semi-finals. Beating Oreshkina/Malinak (WYO) 8-6, Glozman/Fitch (AF) 8-5, Fang/Zaho (UNLV) 8-6, Haugen/Goheen (MT), and losing to Buzkova/Mihalevic (CSU) 6-3, 6-4.
Megan Davies and Sicely Ferreira won their first-round against Discenza/Shah (BSU) 8-4. Davies was able to successfully beat Andra Redondo (ID) 6-7, 6-3, (10-7). Megan Lombardi had a good win over Bhangavi Kalaga (NMSU).
"I am proud of all the players who competed in this event," said head coach RuthAnn Allen. "This has to be one of Weber States' best performances at an ITA Regional. We saw Ferreira advancing to the round of 16 in Flight two and Kuo/Morett making it to the semi-finals in a very competitive fall tournament. I am looking forward to building on this success."
