Hill won his 54th game on Saturday as the Wildcats beat Cal Poly.

After the buzzer sounded on Saturday night in San Luis Obispo, California, the Weber State football team got back on the winning track with a 38-7 win over Cal Poly.

The win also made history for Jay Hill. It was his 54th win during his eight seasons at Weber State and moved him past Dave Arslanian for the most coaching wins in school history.

Hill is now 54-34 as the head coach of the Wildcats. His winning percentage of .614 is the second-best in WSU history. He has a Big Sky record of 40-15, a winning percentage of .727, the highest in WSU history.

"Weber State has been so special to myself and my family and this isn't something you earn on your own," Hill said after Saturday's win. "It's a big group effort and I appreciate the support of the players, the coaches and the administration. You don't get here without phenomenal assistant coaches who've done a great job of recruiting, done a great job of coaching these kids to act and perform the right way.
He has transformed the Wildcat program and led Weber State to four straight Big Sky titles and five straight appearances in the FCS Playoffs and the Wildcats have been nationally ranked every week since 2016.

Hill was named the 11th coach in Weber State history in December 2013. After a difficult 2-10 season in his first year in 2014, he has had winning seasons ever since. He led the Wildcats to a winning season of 6-5 in 2015, then reached the playoffs in 2016 with a 7-5 record.

He recorded Big Sky titles in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 and reached the semifinals of the FCS Playoffs in 2019.

Since 2017, Weber State is 27-4 in Big Sky Conference play.

He has coached 16 players to All-America honors 25 times and three Big Sky MVP's. He was named the Big Sky Coach of the Year in 2020 and is a two-time region coach of the year.

"I've got 300 players or more that you can go down and say, 'couldn't be here without that guy, couldn't be here without that guy,'" Hill added. "I hope all the players and everybody know how much I appreciate them and just how much they've meant to me and our family. It's been a heck of a ride and we're still just starting."
