While the Weber State Wildcats were out in Texas, they added a new addition to the team that'll eventually join them in Ogden and her name is Amelia Raidaveta.Â
Raidevta is a member of the class of 2022, she stands at 6'3" and hails from Australia. If a Wildcat with ties to the land down under sounds familiar, it's because it is. Charlotte Hegvold, Laura Taylor, and Mikayla Peterson each are formally from the continent but now reside in the beehive state; Raidevta will soon be the latest to share that story.Â
She spent her prep days attending St Francis Xavier's College and played club ball with the Newcastle Hunters where she worked her way up to a top 10 Australian recruit coming out of the class of 2022. She's represented her state, New South Wales, in the national championship on three separate occasions; she went while playing U16, U18, and U20.Â
She's not only played in big moments but has also been impactful; in the 2021 U20 Nationals she led her team that'd eventually finish fourth in both scoring and rebounding.Â
Raidaveta, who originally is from Dubbo, NSW Australia to be exact, received high praise from Head Coach Velaida Harris who is ecstatic about what she'll bring to the table.Â
"We are truly excited to have Amelia join the Wildcat family. She's a mobile, physical, talented, rebounding post player. Not only will she make an immediate impact on the court, but she is PERFECT for the team culture we have worked hard to build here. I'm very glad she chose us." said Harris.Â
