OGDEN - Weber State football head coach Jay Hill has agreed to a two-year contract extension that will keep him on the sidelines at Weber State through the 2025 season.Â
Â
"I am super excited about the direction of our program, what we have accomplished and where we are heading," Hill said. "Weber State is a very special place to me and I couldn't be happier with the way our administration has backed me in building a championship program."
Â
Hill became the 11th head coach in Weber State history in December 2013. He signed a five-year contract extension in January 2017 and added two years to his contract in December 2017. This new extension adds two more years to his previous contract and keeps him under contract at Weber State through Jan. 31, 2026.
Â
In his six seasons as head coach, he has led the Wildcats to unprecedented success. WSU has advanced to the FCS Playoffs in each of the last four seasons and the Wildcats have won three-straight Big Sky Conference titles.Â
Â
Weber State has competed in the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs in each of the last three seasons and reached the semifinals for the first time ever in 2019. The Wildcats have been ranked in the top five in the country in each of the last three years and finished 2019 ranked third in the nation, the highest ranking in school history.Â
Â
Hill, 45, is 47-30 in his six seasons as head coach and is 34-14 in Big Sky play. He has the best winning percentage in conference games in WSU history and has the second highest overall winning percentage. Over the last three seasons, Hill has led the Wildcats to a 21-3 record in Big Sky Conference games.Â
Â
He's also helped lead the Wildcats to record-setting wins at home. In the last four years, WSU is 23-3 in games at Stewart Stadium, including a school-record 8-0 home record in 2019. Â
Â
He has coached 13 players to All-American honors 21 times. The Wildcats have also earned 84 Big Sky All-Conference honors and 45 Wildcats have earned Academic All-Big Sky honors.Â
Â
"Jay has done an incredible job in building our football program into what it is today," said Weber State Director of Athletics Tim Crompton. "I echo his sentiments on the support from the WSU administration. Jay has proven himself as an elite coach and we are thrilled to have him sign this extension to continue to build on what he has accomplished."
Â
Weber State begins an unprecedented six-game spring season on February 27. The Wildcats are ranked in the top five in the country in several preseason rankings.Â
