Wildcat football adds nine on 2021 Signing Day

OGDEN - Head coach Jay Hill and the Weber State football team have announced the addition of nine players to join the Wildcats as part of the February 2021 National Signing Day.Â
The group consists of two college transfers and seven high school players and join the seven players the Wildcats signed in the December 2020 signing period.Â
Two players join the team as FBS and Power 5 transfers. Jordan Allen is a junior tight end from Fairfield, California, who has transferred to Weber State from the University of Tennessee where he played as a linebacker and on special teams. He also played at City College of San Francisco in 2017 and started his career as a red shirt at Big Sky member UC Davis in 2016. Â
Randal Grimes has transferred to Weber State from UNLV and also played at USC. Grimes is a wide receiver from Las Vegas, Nevada and spent two seasons at USC in 2017 and 2018. He then transferred to UNLV where he played in 2019, and had 44 receptions for 696 yards and seven touchdowns.Â
The seven high school players come from five different states and make up seven different positions.Â
Two players come from the state of Utah. Creyton Cooper comes to Weber State as a three-star quarterback at Lehi High School in Lehi. He threw for 1,851 yards and 14 touchdowns as a senior with the Pioneers and rushed for 378 yards and five touchdowns. He is the son of former Weber State quarterback Cole Cooper.Â
The Wildcats also signed offensive lineman Lavaka Taukeiaho who comes to WSU from Bingham High School in South Jordan, Utah.Â
Two players come from the state of Texas, including running back Damon Bankston who has signed from Paetow High School in Katy, Texas. Bankston led the Texas 5A division in rushing yards as a senior, totaling 1,634 yards and 17 touchdowns.Â
Jalon Rock joins WSU as a cornerback from Mansfield Summit High School in Arlington, Texas. As a senior, Rock had three interceptions and recorded 38 total tackles. He also had 10 kickoff returns for 461 yards and five touchdowns.Â
WSU added Trevian Tribble as a defensive back from Kaiser High School in Fontana, California. Tribble played quarterback and safety at Kaiser High School. As a quarterback, he threw for more than 2,300 yards and 24 touchdowns in two seasons and also rushed for more than 2,400 yards and 23 touchdowns.Â
The 'Cats added Grant Sands as a long snapper from Perry High School in Gilbert, Arizona. Sands has been ranked as the number 10 long snappers in high school football by Kohl's Kicking.Â
Weber State also announced the signing of Ammon Munyer, a tight end who signed with Weber State from Lakeland High School in Rathdrum, Idaho. Munyer is a three-star recruit who played tight end and defensive end at Lakeland. He was listed as the No. 2 player in the state of Idaho by 247 Sports.Â
Weber State football has won three-straight Big Sky Championships and advanced to the semifinals of the FCS Playoffs in 2019. Coach Hill returns for his seventh season as head coach and the Wildcats were picked first in the Big Sky preseason polls.Â
The Wildcats are underway with spring camp in preparation for the spring 2021 season. The six-game Big Sky season will begin on February 27 at Idaho State, with the home opener scheduled for March 13.  Â
