Koby McEwen and JJ Overton will both be seniors with the Wildcats for the 2021-22 season.

Weber State men's basketball has added two senior Division I transfers to join the Wildcat program. Koby McEwen and Jamison "JJ" Overton have both signed with Weber State and will be seniors for the 2021-22 Wildcat season.

"We couldn't be more excited to have Koby and JJ join our program," said Weber State head coach Randy Rahe. They are both very talented and highly experienced players that will definitely be great fits with the culture of our program. They are both great students, are highly competitive, and are all about winning. They have both played at a very high level and I look for both of them to make major impacts on our team this coming season."

McEwen is a 6-4 guard who transferred to Weber State after playing the last two seasons at Marquette. He also played two seasons prior to that at Utah State and comes to Weber State having played in 115 career games and started in 112 games.

In his two seasons at Marquette, he played in 55 games and started in 52 games. He averaged 10 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game. During the 2020-21 season, he scored in double figures 12 times, including a season-high 28 points against Green Bay.

He began his career at Utah State where he played two seasons with the Aggies. He was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Year in 2017 and earned honorable mention all-conference honors after starting in 30 games for the Aggies. As a sophomore in 2018, he earned third-team all-conference and second-team all-district honors. In his two seasons at Utah State, he played in 61 games and started 60 games. He averaged 15.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game.

McEwen is a native of Toronto, Canada. He played high school basketball at Wasatch Academy in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, where he was listed as an ESPN Top 100 recruit. He averaged 18.7 points, 5.4 assists, and 4.6 rebounds per game as a senior.

"Koby is a strong, powerful, and very athletic guard who can score the ball at all three levels," Rahe added. "He really affects the game in a variety of ways. He is an excellent guard rebounder, a high assist player, and is a terrific defender."

Overton is a 6-6 wing player who comes to Weber State after playing the past two seasons at Utah Valley University.

In his two seasons with the Wolverines, Overton played in 48 games and started in 20 games, with an average of 10.5 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. During the 2020-21 season, he earned second-team all-conference honors and started all 19 games. He averaged 15.6 points per game, while shooting 51 percent from the field.

A native of San Diego, California, Overton started his college career at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo where he was a two-time First Team All-Orange Empire Conference selection and averaged 14.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

"JJ is a highly athletic player with a good skill level and feel for the game," Rahe said. "He is an excellent slasher with a very good mid-range game and an excellent finisher around the rim. He is also a high-level rebounder and high assist player and an excellent defender."
