POCATELLO, ID - The Wildcats performed well at the Idaho State University Bengal Invitational in Pocatello, Idaho. "Great weekend in Pocatello," said men's head coach, Corbin Talley. "The weather was a bit of a factor at times with some breeze and some cold on Friday, but also gave us some beautiful, calm moments to get in some season best marks."
In the men's 100 meters, Alex Wheeler tied for fourth place with a time of 10.91.Â
In the men's 800 meter finals, Austin Byrer earned 10th place with a time of 1:54.60, and Matt Masias finished 11th with a time of 1:54.82.Â
Tracen Warnick and Bronson Winter did well in the men's 1500 meters. Warnick finished third with a time of 3:51.77, and Winter finished fourth with a time of 3:53.79. Austin Byrer also competed in the race, finishing in sixth with a time of 3:55.29.Â
In the men's 10,000 meters, Jacob Stone finished in second with a time of 30:44.40. Dallin Leatham finished shortly behind Stone in third with a time of 30:47.94.
"Really great effort in the 1500 and 10,000m on the track last night. Jacob and Dallin put down times in the 10k which will convert to sub 30:00 with the altitude adjustment. And Bronson's steeplechase today is a top 10 mark in the NCAA, so we're excited about that. Lachlan got the victory for the second straight week in the pole vault, tying his PR. And our relays continue to put down some quick marks with some of the young guys stepping up."
In the men's 110 hurdles, Caleb Whitney finished fourth with a time of 14.68. Whitney also competed well in the men's 400 hurdles, finishing in third with a time of 53.48.Â
Bronson Winter competed in the men's 3000 steeplechase, and finished in third place with a time of 9:00.95 (8:49 converted). This is a PR for Winter, and is ranked 2nd in the Big Sky and 8th in the NCAA. Tracen Warnick finished in fifth with a time of 9:10.71.
Weber State 'A', made up of Isaac Tillett, Cade Palmer, Alex Wheeler, and Colton Reifschneider finished first in the men's 4x400 relay with a time of 41.32.
Lachlan Burns earned first place in the men's pole vault, finding a mark of 16-4.75. Jed Smith earned fourth place with a mark of 15-07.Â
Cody Canard earned fourth place in the men's javelin, finding a 202-02 mark.Â
"Going forward, we need to get a few guys healthy and we need to keep working hard over the final four weeks of the season. The guys are focusing on these final meets and really preparing for a strong conference championship," said Talley.
