Wyatt Larkins sets school record in the Hammer Throw

Larkins throw is #9 in the NCAA and is his 2nd WSU school record
The Weber State men's track and field team opened the outdoor season at the UVU Invitational on Thursday.

Wyatt Larkins' hammer throw school record currently sits 9th in the NCAA. It is also currently #1 in the Big Sky Conference and is the 6th best mark in the Big Sky.
"It's fun to watch Wyatt," head coach Corbin Talley said. "He is focused and such a great competitor."
Tyler Warnick placed 1st in the Long Jump with a mark of 24-9.75", beating the 2nd place mark by nearly a foot.
"The tailwind was just barely legal, but will put him in a spot that possibly makes the NCAA first round," Talley said.
Carson Day took 1st in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:11.11.Â
"I thought Carson ran particularly gritty in the 5,000 meter victory," Talley said. "He showed some real poise and toughness in the final laps."
The Wildcats had some PR's scattered throughout the opening meet of the season.
"We have a lot of work in front of us, but it's a great start and we're excited to see what we can accomplish with this group in the coming months," Talley said.
The Wildcats will now travel to Stanford, California and compete in the Stanford Invitational April 3-4.Â
