Peter Visser qualifies for NCAA Track Championships

Visser will compete in the NCAA’s in the steeplechase for the second straight year.
It's another NCAA appearance for Weber State senior Peter Visser.
Visser qualified for the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships for the second straight year after his performance in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA First Round meet on Friday in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Visser posted a time of 8:37.57 to finish second in his heat in the event and qualify for the NCAA Championships. He was 13th overall.
The senior from Afton, Wyoming, also qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships three times.
He finished 17th in the steeplechase last year at the NCAA Championships to just miss All-America honors.
Visser will compete at the NCAA Championships June 10-13 in Eugene, Oregon.
Weber State had eight athletes competing in the first round of the NCAA First Round meet, including three in the steeplechase. Visser was the only athlete to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
Sophomore Owen Rogers was 21st in the steeplechase at 8:48.67, and junior TJ Warnick was 42nd at 9:07.57.
In other events, Ethan Ecker, the Big Sky champion in the javelin, finished 25th in the meet in the event with a throw of 208-08. At the Big Sky Championships, Ecker posted a career-best throw of 232-01, the third-best in Weber State history, and became the first Wildcat to win the Big Sky title in the javelin in 21 years.
Colby Jenks and Joe Corbridge were the first two Wildcats to qualify for the NCAA First Round meet in the 800 meters. Jenks finished 30th in the event with a time of 1:48.53, and Corbridge was 34th at 1:49.01, just off his career best time.
Earlier this season, Jenks, a freshman from Big Piney, Wyoming, posted the second-fastest time in the event in Weber State history. Corbridge, a senior from American Fork, Utah, had the fourth-best time in school history earlier this year.
Freshman Tyler Warnick was 41st in the NCAA First Round meet in the long jump with a mark of 21-11.50. Warnick was second in the Big Sky Championships in the decathlon and finished fourth in the long jump. He has the sixth-best long jump in WSU history.
Another Wildcat freshman, Wyatt Larkins, finished 43rd overall in the hammer throw. He posted a mark of 185-08 in the meet.
Larkins had an outstanding freshman year for the Wildcats. The England native set two Weber State school records this season. He set a school record in the indoor weight throw and finished sixth at the Big Sky Championships. In outdoor, he set a WSU record in the hammer throw at 219-01, nearly 19 feet ahead of second place. He also finished second in the hammer throw at the Big Sky Championships to earn all-conference honors.
