Wildcats finish 4th in Big Sky Indoor Championships

Peter Visser and Tyler Warnick bring home gold in the 3,000 Meters and Heptathlon, respectively.
The Weber State men's track and field team placed 4th at the Big Sky Indoor Championships in Pocatello, Idaho. The Wildcats tallied 69.5 total points as a team.Â
"I really loved the opportunity to watch my guys compete the past few days," Head Coach Corbin Talley said. "I was proud of our toughness they showed. The Big Sky Championships are as competitive as ever in nearly every area, and I saw quite a few places where our guys stepped up to the challenge."

Weber State had 17 Top-8 finishes to record points for the team total. The Wildcat freshman class pulled off 28 of the 69.5 team points.Â
Visser recorded a 1st place finish in the 3,000m with a time of 8:01.76 and William Horne finished 7th at 8:24.56. Visser recorded 18 points for the Wildcats.
Tyler Warnick also recorded a 1st place finish in the Heptathlon with a score of 5,404. Brogan Garrett finished 4th with a tally of 5,012.
The Distance Medley Relay team of TJ Warnick, Colby Anderson, Logan Marek, Owen Rogers grabbed a silver medal in the 4,000m event with a time of 9:53.80.
Visser also placed 2nd in the 5,000m with a time of 14:15.08. Jacob Peterson finished 7th at 14:28.41 with Tyler Spencer close behind at 14:33.17 in 8th.
Jae Macias recorded a 4th place finish in the 60m finals at 6.80.
Tyler Warnick placed 5th in the Long Jump with a mark of 23'-11.75.
Joe Corbridge placed 6th in the 800m at 1:54.50.
The 4x400m team of Tyler Warnick, Colby Anderson, Brogan Garrett, and Colby Jenks placed 6th with a time of 3:15.84.
Wyatt Larkins placed 6th in the Weight Throw at a mark of 63'-0.00.
Owen Rogers had a time of 4:13.61 in the mile to place 7th.
Kale Thomas hit a mark of 6'-8.25 for 7th place in the high jump.
Parker Sagers placed 8th in the Pole Vault with a height of 14'-11.00.
Joseph Miraya also placed 8th in Shot Put at a mark of 53'-3.50.Â
"I'm really proud of some of the gritty performances that picked up some small points that made a big difference. What played a big part in helping us secure 4th place," Talley said.
The Outdoor Season will begin March 26th in Orem, Utah at the UVU Invitational.
