Jay Hill earns second-straight AFCA Region Coach of the Year honor

For the second-straight year, Weber State head coach Jay Hill has been named the Region 5 Coach of the Year by the American Football Coaches Association. He also earned the honor in 2019.Â
The AFCA honors are selected by coaches in each region. The AFCA will announce the National Coach of the Year during the week leading up to the FCS National Championship.Â
Hill guided the Wildcats to a perfect 5-0 record in the spring season and the first outright conference title in school history. The Wildcats have won four-straight Big Sky titles and are making their fifth straight appearance in the FCS Playoffs. Weber State was ranked second in the nation in the AFCA Coaches poll for much of the season, the highest ranking in school history.Â
Hill, 46, enters the FCS Playoffs with a 52-30 all-time record and is 39-14 in Big Sky games in seven seasons at Weber State. He is second in WSU history in overall winning percentage and first in winning percentage in conference games.Â

He was also named a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Award by Stats Perform, honoring the National Coach of the Year.Â

Weber State hosts Southern Illinois on Saturday in the first round of the FCS Playoffs.Â
