Weber State hosts Big Sky Outdoor Championships

OGDEN - For the first time in 11 years, the Weber State track and field teams will serve as hosts for the Big Sky Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Weber State will host this year's meet May 12-15 at the Chick Hislop Track at Stewart Stadium.
Meet information
The meet begins with the Decathlon and Heptathlon on Wednesday and Thursday, contested at Stewart Stadium. The remaining events will be contested on Friday and Saturday. There will be finals in 12 events on Friday with trails in 14 other events. Saturday will see the finals of 28 events.
Live results of the meet will be available through Finished Results.
All track events and jumping events will be contested at the Chick Hislop Track at Stewart Stadium. The throwing events will be held at the Weber State Throws Complex, which is located off Old Post Road south of the Dee Events Center and south of the University Village.
Ticket Information
There will be free admission for the multi events on Wednesday and Thursday.
Tickets will be required for the events at Stewart Stadium on Friday and Saturday and are available at WeberStateTickets.com. Free parking will be available in the lots north of Stewart Stadium each day.
There will be no charge for admission to events at the throws complex.
No concessions will be available and face masks are required upon entry.
How to watch
The championship will be streamed online throughout the week. All action from Stewart Stadium from Wednesday-Saturday will be streamed online for free on Pluto TV 1054 and on WatchBigSky.com.
In addition, the action from the throws field on Friday and Saturday will be streamed on Facebook Live through the Weber State Track and Field Facebook page.
Wildcat women's team
The Weber State women's team enters the championship leading the conference in six events and has 12 spots in the top three of events.
Emily Morgan-King, the reigning Big Sky Athlete of the Week, leads the conference in both the 100 meters and 200 meters. Kate Sorensen is first in the 100 meter hurdles and the 400 meter hurdles.
The Wildcats are strong in the distance evens with Summer Allen ranking first in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, with Bailey Wall second in the events. Lexie Thompson is first in the 10,000 meters and second in the 5,000 meters. Billie Hatch is second in the 10K.
The Wildcats are second in the 4x400 meter relay and Andee Brown is third in the 400 meter hurdles.
Paige Van Meeteren enters the championship first in the conference in the high jump.
Men's team
On the men's side, Weber State is first in the conference in two events and has nine spots in the top three.
Trey Deveraux has the best mark in the conference in the pole vault and Lachlan Burns is third and Ryan Shearman is fourth.
In the decathlon, Caleb Whitney enters first in the league with Jed Smith second and Jakob Pearson fourth.
Christian Allen is second in the 10,000 meters and Taylor Dillon is fourth. In the steeplechase, Tracen Warnick ranks second with Bronson Winter third.
History
This is the ninth time Weber State has hosted the Big Sky Outdoor Track and Field Championships and the first since 2010.
The Wildcat men's team has won the title 10 times with the last win coming when WSU hosted in 2010. The WSU women's team has won the title five times with the last win coming in 2002.
Looking ahead
Following this week's championship meet, those athletes that qualify will compete in the NCAA West First Round Meet, May 27-29 in College Station, Texas.
