Wildcat men's team wraps up season at NCAA West meet

Bronson Winter finished 13th and just missed qualifying for the NCAA meet.
The Weber State men's track and field team wrapped up its 2021 season at the NCAA West Preliminary meet this weekend in College Station, Texas. WSU had eight athletes qualify for the meet.
Bronson Winter, the Big Sky Freshman of the Year, just missed qualifying for the NCAA Championships. He finished 13th in the men's 3,000 meter steeplechase, posting a career-best time of 8:45.12. He missed qualifying for the NCAA meet by three seconds. The top 12 finishers in each event qualify for the national meet. Winter won the Big Sky title in the 800 meters earlier this month.
In other events for the Wildcats, Cody Canard finished 18th in the javelin with a mark of 206-06. Lachlan Burns, the Big Sky champion in the pole vault, finished 20th in the event.
He tied his career best mark with a jump of 17-02.75. Trey Deveraux also qualified for the event but did not record a mark.
Christian Allen was 21st in the 10,000 meters with a time of 29:56.38.
Xakai Harry came in 23rd in the men's long jump with a mark of 23-04.50. Two weeks ago, Harry won the Big Sky title in the long jump and set a school record in the event.
The meet brought to an end the Weber State men's track and field season. The Wildcats finished fourth in the Big Sky Championships and won four individual events in the meet.
