Wildcats Head to Provo for BYU Invitational

After going 3-0 and winning the Northern Utah Classic in its opening weekend, Weber State Volleyball will be back in action in tournament play this week as they head to Provo for the BYU Invitational.
Weber State will be joined in the BYU invitational by BYU, Dixie State, and Michigan State and will play each program in the tournament that runs from Thursday, September 2nd to Saturday, September 4th.
The Wildcats' schedule for the BYU Invitational is as follows:

Weber State Wildcats (3-0, 0-0 Big Sky Conference)
Weber State will return home to Swenson Gym on Wednesday, September 8th against the Utah Valley Wolverines. WSU will be holding a ring and banner ceremony that honors the 2021 Big Sky Champion team that won the school's first NCAA tournament game against Bowling Green. The match will start at 6:00, tickets can be purchased online or by calling WSU's ticket office at 801-626-8500.

Weber State Wildcats (3-0, 0-0 Big Sky Conference)
- Weber State went undefeated in its first weekend after sweeping Seton Hall and North Dakota, and winning a thrilling five-set match in Logan, Utah against Utah State
- Senior outside hitter Rylin Adams was named the Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Week, and currently leads the Big Sky Conference in kills, kills per set, and points per set
- Sophomore opposite Emma Mangum was named the MVP of the Northern Utah Classic and led the team in kills in the match against Seton Hall with 14
- Weber State set a school record for most consecutive wins at home in their match against Seton Hall with its 17th consecutive victory in Swenson Gym, and extended the record to 18 consecutive wins after the Wildcats beat North Dakota
- The 2021 roster features one All-American in Adams, and four all-conference players: Adams, Dani Nay, Ashlyn Power, and Sam Schiess
- BYU hosted and won the doTERRA Classic without losing a set, beating UNLV, Long Island, and Southern Utah
- The Cougars are currently ranked number 13 in the nation
- BYU is the defending West Coast Conference champion
- The Cougars have four All-Americans from last season: Taylen Ballard-Nixon, Whitney Bower, Kennedy Eschenberg and transfer Kenzie Koerber
- Michigan State hosted a tournament for its opening weekend, and had wins against Western Michigan and Canisius, while losing in five sets to Wright State
- During head coach Cathy George's time in East Lansing (2005-present), the Spartans have gone 143-28 (.844) in non-conference matches
- MSU served 20 aces in its opening weekend, 1.82 per set, which is good enough for fourth in the Big Ten
- The Spartans have never played against Weber State
- Dixie State opened its season by going to Boise, Idaho for the Boise State Invitational and dropped the three matches it played against Boise State, Montana State, and Long Beach State
- The Trailblazers made the jump from Division Two to Division One last season, and ended the season with a 9-8 record
- Camilla Hafoka was named DSU's new head coach prior to the season, she was an assistant for the Trailblazers for the two seasons prior to this.
- The Trailblazers have never played against Weber State
