Summer Allen, Christian Allen both named cross country athletes of the week

It's a happy day in the Allen household. Weber State women's cross country runner Summer Allen and Weber State men's cross country runner Christian Allen were both honored as the Big Sky Cross Country Athletes of the Week after their performance in the season opening meet last week. The married couple each finished in first place at the College of Southern Idaho Classic last Friday in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Summer Allen took first place in the women's race, winning in a time of 18:03.6 on the 5K course, just edging teammate Billie Hatch who was second at 18:03.7.

The Wildcats finished second in the meet, losing to 14th-ranked Boise State by just one point.

Allen earned All-America honors in cross country and outdoor track and field during the spring 2021 season.

On the men's side, Christian Allen was the top finisher in the men's race at the CSI Classic to earn Co-Big Sky Athlete of the Week honors.

He posted a time of 21:03.7 on the 7K course and won the meet by 35 seconds. Weber State had the top four and five of the top six spots in the meet and won the team title with 20 points.
