Short-Handed Wildcats Struggle Against Vandals

On Thursday night, the Weber State Wildcats fought hard but largely struggled against the Idaho Vandals, WSU suffered a 52-41 road loss and their record dropped to 7-8 overall but are 3-3 against Big Sky foes.Â
Winning on the road in any sport is a tall task, it's especially tough when missing key players. You won't hear any excuses from the Wildcats but against the Vandals, they were without the services of not only Emma Torbert who has been one of the more dominant players in the conference but also Ava Williams who provides key minutes off the bench.
Without them, WSU had trouble on both ends of the floor which led to Idaho jumping out to an early lead and not looking back.Â
A positive for the Wildcats was Kori Pentzer who returned to her home state of Idaho with a 13 point outing, knocking down 3-6 of her shots from beyond the arc. While Pentzer was scoring, Jadyn Matthews was cleaning the boards, pulling down 14 rebounds throughout the night
Although Thursday didn't go their way, the Weber State Wildcats will wake up Friday morning with that game in the rearview mirror because on Saturday they'll have a shot at getting back on track as they travel to Cheney, WA to battle the Eastern Washington Eagles at 3 P.M. MT on ESPN+.Â
