Wildcats total 553 yards in 42-7 win at Portland State
The win is the eighth-straight overall win for the Wildcats and also extends their school-record road winning streak to eight games.
The win now sets up a top-five showdown next week at Montana State.
Weber State totaled 553 yards of total offense and held the Vikings to just 167 yards. WSU rushed for 242 and threw for 311.
The Wildcat defense had four sacks and held Portland State to 69 yards rushing and 167 yards passing.
The Wildcats drove right down the field on their first drive and scored just 3:09 into the game on a three-yard touchdown from Bronson Barron to Haze Hadley.
WSU took a 14-0 lead later in the first quarter after a 23-yard touchdown run from Damon Bankston.
The lead went to 21-0 midway through the second quarter after a 15-yard touchdown run by Dontae McMillan.
On their first play of the second half, WSU scored again with a 55-yard touchdown from Barron to Jacob Sharp to make it 28-0.
After an interception, the Wildcats then went on a 98-yard drive over 3:37, capped by a two-yard TD from Barron to Hayden Meacham to give Weber State a 35-0 lead.
After the Vikings scored in the fourth quarter, Steven Shoats-Thomas added a seven-yard touchdown in the final minutes to make for the 42-7 win.
Bronson Barron was 21 of 31 passing for 274 yards and three touchdowns. Nine different Wildcats caught passes on the day with Ty MacPherson posting four receptions for 60 yards. Haze Hadley had six catches for 31 yars and Jon Christensen had three catches for 57 yards
On the ground, Dontae McMillan had nine carries for 81 yards and a touchdown and Damon Bankston added nine carries for 45 yards. Kris Jackson had six carries for 40 yards.
On defense, Jack Kelly had 1.5 sacks and Simote Lokotui, Garrett Beck and Kalisi Moli each added a sack.
Weber State improved to 6-0 to start a season for just the second time in school history, tying the 1968 team for the best start ever.
The Wildcats are back on the road for a key Big Sky showdown next Saturday at Montana State who is 6-1 on the season.
