Former Wildcat football All-American Roger Trinchero, a long-time contributor of Wildcat football, has made a lead contribution to endow the head coaching position for the Wildcat football program.
Weber State University alum and former football All-American Roger Trinchero has made a lead contribution to endow the head coaching position for the Wildcat football program. A long-time supporter of the football program, Trinchero's intent is to encourage others to add to the endowment to ensure the ability of WSU to recruit and retain quality football coaches.

"Weber State University had been fortunate to have such high-quality football coaches like "Sark" Arslanian when I played and Jay Hill now," Trinchero said. "The intent of my commitment is to encourage others to contribute to ensure this quality coaching legacy continues."
Trinchero played for the 1966 Rose Bowl-winning UCLA Bruins before transferring to Weber State where he earned All-American honorable mention honors in 1968. He helped lead the Wildcats to the Big Sky Championship under head coach Sark Arslanian. Trinchero and his 1968 teammates, known as "Sark's Boys", began the 1968 season with a 6-0 record, joining the current 2022 team as the only two teams to begin a season 6-0.
"We are so grateful to Roger Trinchero for being a long-time supporter of Wildcat football and Weber State," said Weber State University President Dr. Brad Mortensen. "His willingness to give back and support the university that positively impacted him is exemplary, inspiring, and demonstrates his genuine commitment to making a difference."
Following graduation and a tour of duty in the Vietnam War, Trinchero returned to his hometown in California's Napa Valley to develop marketing and distribution strategies for Sutter Home, his family's winery.
Trinchero has donated to numerous projects at Weber State over the years, including a major gift for the Sarks Boys Gateway at the new Youngberg Football Center at Stewart Stadium and a major gift for the building of the Marquardt Fieldhouse.Â
"On behalf of our football program, I want to thank Roger Trichero for his generous support and passion for our success," said WSU head coach Jay Hill. "His strong ties to the program began as a player and continue as one of our great supporters. Thanks again Roger."Â
"Mr. Trinchero's generous support of Wildcat Athletics over the years has been remarkable," said Weber State Athletic Director Tim Crompton. "His latest commitment to our football program, undoubtedly will benefit our program far into the future."Â
