Daryn Hickok led the 'Cats with 23 points and 11 rebounds
Ogden, UT - The Wildcats and Eagles battled on the hardwood at the Dee Events Center Thursday evening. In a game which saw 13 ties and 9 lead changes, the 'Cats faltered late and fell to the Eagles 74-61. The loss dropped Weber to 4-10 in Big Sky play (8-15 overall).Â
How it Happened:
The game was tight over the first 3 quarters with neither team able to shake the other. The first and third quarters showed both teams shooting better than 50% from the field, and neither team was able to gain more than a 6 point lead.
Entering the pivotal fourth quarter the teams were tied at 50. The Wildcats' 6 missed shots and 2 turnovers in the first 5:03 of the fourth quarter spelled doom for the team. Over that timespan, the Eagles outscored the Wildcats 10-0 and put the game away. The Eagles, who only shot 3-10 in the final frame ended the quarter with 24 points based on their 16-18 free throw shooting. For the game, the Eagles shot 33 free throws and the 'Cats shot 14.
Every measurable stat in this game was even, except for the free throw shooting. Weber State was outscored by 16 points from the free throw line, and ended up losing by 13.Â
Numbers to Know:
Daryn Hickok had another double-double, leading the team with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Jadyn Matthews had a solid game with 16 points.Â
Next Up:
The 'Cats stay in Ogden Saturday, Feb 12 against the Idaho Vandals at 1 PM. Weber State Athletics will hold a ceremony to retire the jersey of former Weber State standout Kathy Miller during the halftime of this game.Â
