Wildcats sweep season series from Hornets
How it Happened:
After trading blows throughout the entire first half with neither team able to gain any real advantage, the 'Cats ended the half up by just one point. Weber State came out strong in the second half, and used a 10-0 run at the start of the third quarter to finally gain some distance on the Hornets. Leading by 9 heading into the final frame, the Wildcats and the Hornets traded blows, with the Hornets pulling to within 5 points on six separate occasions.Timely shooting by Daryn Hickok and a big 3-pointer by Emma Torbert over the last 5 minutes of the game led to the Wildcats out-scoring the Hornets 10-5 over that timespan to put the game away.Â
Numbers to Know:
Three Wildcats scored in double figures led by Kori Pentzer with 17 points. Daryn Hickok had another solid game for the 'Cats with 16 points and 6 rebounds, and Emma Torbert continued her strong showing with 13 points. The Wildcats shot a blistering 59% from the field, including 60% from behind the arc. Pentzer, Hickok and Torbert shot a combined 17-25 for the game. The Hornets have only lost twice in the last 11 games, both to Weber State.Â
Weber State heads to Northern Colorado to go up against the Bears Saturday, Feb 19.Â
