Women’s Tennis Takes 5-2 Win Over Nevada

Provo, UT - The women's tennis team went up against the University of Nevada this Saturday afternoon. After a slow start in doubles play, and giving up the 1-0 advantage, the 'Cats showed great performances in singles securing wins on 5 courts.
Finishing first on court 3, Megan Lombardi and Yuuna Ukita earned the first doubles point of the day when they defeated their opponents, 6-3. The 'Cats were unable to secure wins on the remaining two courts giving Nevada the 1-0 advantage heading into singles.
Great performances put on by the Wildcats in singles play gave them the 5-2 win. Finishing first on court 2, Ana Morett defeated Anastasia Luneva, 6-1, 6-2 and Yuuna Ukita took the upper hand against Cristina Moll Alles, 6-3, 6-3 on court 4.
Megan Davies earned the 'Cats their third point of the day on court 1 finishing 6-1, 7-6 (3) against Milka Genkova. Megan Lombardi on court 6 and Sicely Ferreira on court 5 both took wins as well giving the 'Cats their 5-2 victory over the Nevada Wolf Pack.
"I am proud of our team's fight and determination today," said head coach RuthAnn Allen. "It was a good win."
Next up: The Wildcats go up against Colorado Mesa University Sunday, Feb 20 at 12:30 p.m. at the Ogden Athletic Club. The Weber State men's tennis team will compete Sunday as well at 9:30 a.m.
