Koby McEwen's career-high leads Wildcats to eighth straight win

McEwen had 32 points and set a school record with 19 free throws.

OGDEN - Koby McEwen had a career-high 32 points and Dillon Jones added another double-double as Weber State won its eighth-straight game with an 80-75 win over Montana Thursday night at the Dee Events Center. 

The Wildcats are now 18-5 overall and remain in first place in the Big Sky at 11-1. 

How it happened 
The largest lead for either team throughout the game was just six points and there were 14 ties and 11 lead changes. 

Montana led 39-37 at halftime. The Grizzlies were up five points with 11:30 to play when the Wildcats went on an 8-3 run to tie the game at 58-58.

Weber State went up six with three minutes to play after a Dontay Bassett 3-pointer. McEwen made six free throws in the final 22 seconds to seal the win. 

Key numbers
McEwen had himself a career night and set a WSU school record in the process. He finished with a career-high 32 points and set a Weber State school record with 19 made free throws. He was 5 of 12 from the field, including 3 of 7 from 3-point range, and was 19 of 20 from the free throw line. He also added three assists and three rebounds. 

McEwen's 19 free throws made is the most in school history, breaking the previous record held by Davion Berry and Harold Arceneaux. The 20 attempts is tied for the third most in a game in school history. 

Dillon Jones recorded his 12th double-double of the season as he finished with 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. He was 8 of 11 from the field and also dished out four assists. 

Dontay Bassett added nine points and six rebounds and JJ Overton also had nine points.  

Weber State shot 43 percent from the field, compared to 48 percent for the Grizzlies. The Wildcats were 26 of 29 from the free throw line. 

Up next
Weber State continues its busy schedule with one more game Saturday night. The Wildcats will host Montana State Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Dee Events Center. The Bobcats are 8-2 in conference play and have not lost since losing to Weber State on December 30.
