Wildcats take on Hornets in Big Sky Tournament Monday

Weber State will take on Sacramento State in the first round Monday at 5:30 p.m. in Boise. Game televised on ESPN+.
• It's postseason time for the Weber State women's basketball team as the Wildcats head to the 2022 Big Sky Tournament this week at the Idaho Central Arena in Boise, Idaho.
• The Wildcats earned the No. 10 seed in the tournament and will take on No. 7 Sacramento State in the first round on Monday, March 7 at 5:30 p.m. in Boise. The game will be televised on ESPN+ and the ESPN app with Jenny Cavnar and Krista Redpath on the call. Live stats available at WeberStateSports.com.
• The Wildcats finished the regular season 10-19 overall and 6-14 in Big Sky play to finish 10th in the standings. WSU lost 75-65 at Southern Utah on Friday night in the final regular season game.
• Sacramento State finished the regular season 14-15 overall and 10-10 in Big Sky play. Lianna Tillman leads the Big Sky and is 18th in the nation in scoring at 20.3 points per game and Isnelle Natabou leads the conference and is 18th nationally in rebounding at 11.1 per game. She is also fourth in the country in field goal percentage at 63.9 percent.
• Weber State swept Sacramento State in the two games this season, winning 79-76 on January 29 in Ogden and 62-52 on February 17 in Sacramento. The Wildcats shot 53 percent from the field in the two games against the Hornets and won the rebounding battle 28.5 to 24.5. Emma Torbert led four Wildcats averaging in double figures in the two games with 21 points per game. WSU has won four straight games overall against Sacramento State with two wins this season and two last season.
• This is the 21st time Weber State will compete at the Big Sky Tournament. The Wildcats are 14-18 all-time in tournament games. This is just the second-ever meeting between the two schools in the conference tournament. WSU won 98-97 in the first round of the tournament in 2017 in Reno.
• Daryn Hickok has the led the Wildcats in scoring this season and finished the regular season ranking third in the Big Sky in scoring at 15.3 points per game. She has scored in double figures 22 times, reached 20 or more seven times, and has led the Wildcats in scoring in eight of the last nine games. Hickok is also eighth in the league in rebounding and second in field goal percentage at 53.2 percent. She also ranks fifth in steals and 10th in free throw percentage.
• Jadyn Matthews is second in the Big Sky in rebounding at 8.7 per game and ranks 12th in scoring at 12.5. Emma Torbert is third in the league in blocked shots, third in steals, 13th in rebounding and 14th in scoring. Senior Kori Pentzer is fifth in the conference in minutes played per game at 33.9.
• WSU played nine games during the conference season that were decided by six points or less. The 'Cats are seventh in the nation in free throws made and Hickok is 11th in the nation.
• The winner of Monday's game will take on No. 2 seed Montana State on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
