Weber State Volleyball Sweeps Sacramento State

Sacramento, CA – The Weber State volleyball squad's winning streak continues with a hard-fought victory Thursday night against the Sacramento State Hornets 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-23).
Set 1
The tone for the match was set in the first frame as the Wildcats and Hornets went back and forth exchanging leads, kills, and errors. But the 'Cats clawed their way ahead pulling away from the Hornets by five points, 19-14. Battling their way back, Sacramento State trailed by one 24-23 however, the Wildcats did not back down and their tough offense awarded them a well-fought first-set victory 25-23.
Set 2
Weber State stayed hot in set two, both squads took turns scoring points. With the score being 18-17 near the end of the set, the Wildcats were able to break the stalemate with a 3-1 run, and Ashley Gneiting scored the clinching kill to seize the set 25-21.
Set 3
The Hornets took the advantage in set three, but the Wildcats replied with a 3-point sprint to tie the score at 20-20. After a back-and-forth battle between the two squads, Weber State managed to pull ahead by one 24-23 after an attack error by the Hornets. A service ace by Mia Peterson directly after shut down the Hornets 25-23 and the 'Cats walked away with a 3-0 sweep.
Ashley Gneiting led the group with a career-high 15 kills (.484). Dani Richins also poured in 15 kills and Liana Woodley with 10. Weber State went neck to neck with Sacramento State in kills (47-47), assists (45-45), and digs (64-58).
