Wildcats Beat Bengals In Five After Dominating Comeback

Pocatello, ID – The Weber State volleyball team continues their winning streak with a 3-2 (25-23, 19-25, 15-25, 25-20, 15-7) victory against Idaho State. The win improves the 'Cats 4-1 in Big Sky play.
Set 1
Weber State's offense kicked into gear in the first set, the 'Cats recorded 19 kills six coming from Baylee Bodily and four from both Dani Richins and Mia Peterson. Their dominating performance and effort carried the 'Cats to a 25-23 set victory.
Set 2
The Wildcats had several leads in the second set but weren't able to close things out. Idaho State had a 3-1 run awarding them set two 25-19.
Set 3
After a slow start to the third set, Weber State trailed Idaho State 11-5 working to chip away at the Bengals lead. Unable to pull ahead, Idaho State's tough offense awarded them a lot of cushion as they pulled to a nine-point lead and earned them the third set 25-15.
Set 4
The 'Cats offense recovered in the fourth as Weber State refused to let Idaho State pull ahead. Trying to rally, the Bengals fought back shaving the 'Cats lead to just a point, 14-13. However, the Bengals were unable to get past Weber's tough defense, and the 25-20 win by the Wildcats forced a fifth set.
Set 5
It all came down to who could score 15 points first and it was all the Wildcats from the first serve. Weber State took the lead 6-2 and would later extend its lead by nine. Running away with it and completing a dominating comeback the 'Cats walked away with the 15-7 victory.
Weber State and Idaho State went neck and neck both recording 64 kills with 88 digs for the 'Cats and 87 for the Bengals. Kills for the Wildcats were highlighted by Dani Richins with 15 and Brielle Rueckert with 11. Makayla Sorensen recorded 26 digs on the night.
