Wildcats Drop Heartbreaker Against Bobcats

The loss moves the 'Cats 10-4 in Big Sky Play
Ogden, UT – The Weber State Wildcats three match winning streak came to an end after an intense five-set match against the Montana State Bobcats.
In a hotly contested match with both teams hitting and defending well, Weber State was able to pull ahead after a 3-point run 22-16 in the first set, controlling their lead and coming out with a 25-20 win. In a similar fashion, the Wildcats and Bobcats exchanged leads in the second set. After a five-point run made by Weber State, Montana State followed with a four-point run. However, after four consecutive points made by the Wildcats, their lead of 20-14 was enough to give them the momentum to pull out a 25-19 set victory.
The following set was more wide open and the Bobcats were able to control things from the get-go. Montana State found their momentum after a five-point run to carry the set in their favor 25-18. Weber State struggled in the fourth set, falling 9-25 and pushing the match to the fifth set.
Back and forth the two teams went in the fifth set. The Wildcats held a lead at 6-3, but Montana State scored four straight points giving them a lead they didn't relinquish. The bobcats clung to a 15-12 victory over the Wildcat squad.
Dani Richins totaled 19 kills, not far behind Baylee Bodily finished the night with 13, and Ashley Gneiting with 12. Makayla Sorensen had 31 digs on the night and Dani Richins with 18. Both squads played equally as tough with Weber State hitting .208 and Montana State hitting .247. The Wildcats and Bobcats were neck and neck with kills (61-60) and digs (85-80).
