Wildcats roll to 48-21 win at Cal Poly to secure winning season

Richie Munoz threw for five touchdowns and rushed for another and the Wildcat defense had six sacks and two interceptions. It's the ninth-straight winning season for Weber State.
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Weber State closed out the season on a high note as the Wildcats won their third-straight game with a dominating 48-21 win at Cal Poly Saturday night in the regular season finale.
The win gives Weber State a 6-5 record on the season, giving the Wildcats nine-straight winning seasons.
Weber State freshman quarterback Richie Munoz threw for 329 yards and a career-high five touchdowns in leading the Wildcats to the win. He's the first Wildcat to throw for five touchdowns in 12 seasons.
Munoz also rushed for 17 yards and another touchdown.
Three of his touchdowns went to Jacob Sharp who finished with five catches for 91 yards and three touchdowns. Treyshun Hurry and Jayleen Record also had touchdown catches for the Wildcats.
Defensively, the Wildcats had six sacks and 10 tackles for loss, along with two interceptions. WSU also held Cal Poly to just 38 yards rushing.
Jack Kelly had seven tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble, and an interception in the win. Brayden Wilson had eight tackles with three sacks. Winston Reid also added eight tackles. Jalen Rock also had an interception for the Wildcats.
Weber State totaled a season-high 449 yards of offense, compared to 324 for Cal Poly.
Cal Poly scored on its first possession and Weber State answered on its first possession with a 14-yard touchdown from Richie Munoz to Treyshun Hurry.
The Mustangs went up 14-7 but Weber State then scored the next 41 points. WSU led 20-14 at halftime. Munoz scored a two-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, then hit Sharp for a four-yard touchdown at the end of the third to take a 34-14 lead.
He connected with Sharp on a 24-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter than hit Record for a 52-yard pass with 7:14 to play.
"I'm really proud of the seniors for helping us turn this around the last three weeks," said WSU head coach Mickey Mental. "Anytime you can win three games in a row in this conference is big and this will be great momentum for us to get into the offseason."
